In particular, it plans to contribute to reducing not only its direct emission volume by improving the efficiency of its production processes, but also its indirect emission volume by producing high value-added products and developing products that consume less energy.

Approach

Sebang Global Battery has actively participated in the government's efforts to respond to the climate change issue by practicing environmentally-friendly management. It has also strived to minimize the impact of changes in energy policies at home and abroad. It strives to develop into an environmentally friendly enterprise by strengthening its support to green business by its business divisions and enhancing its environmentally friendly competitiveness.

Goals
  • Enhanced control and management of air and water pollutants, chemical substances, odor, and soil

  • Exploration of new tasks for saving energy and enhanced monitoring of energy saving activities.

  • Re-establishment of energy technology database and upgrade of saving technologies

Ressource Recycling Activities

Sebang Global Battery focuses on recycling retired batteries to create new parts. They aim to improve recycling rates by marking products to encourage lead recycling. Polypropylene covers and electrolyte containers are crushed, cleaned, melted, and remade into new parts, while lead is purified and reformed into ingots for new batteries. Sulfur-containing electrolytes are neutralized into water and sodium sulfate, with the latter being recycled to support a sustainable circular economy.

Social Contribution

Sebang Global Battery has expanded its social contributions to create meaningful impact in the local community. The company continues its corporate social responsibility efforts, including support for low-income families and welfare institutions, and establishing emergency aid programs. These initiatives are funded through the Sebang Lee Eui-sun Foundation and a flea market where executives and employees actively participate.

Sebang Lee E Sun Foundation

The Sebang Lee E Sun Foundation, a social welfare non-for-profit foundation, was established on December 20, 2007 to contribute to the promotion of social welfare through welfare programs for the underprivileged, including low-income children, youth, senior citizens, and social welfare facilities.
